1. What piece of work/ assignment and learning are you most proud? Explain.
I am mostly proud about my Ancient Egyptian Diaries. Why you ask, I am proud because I actually got a really good grade in something I had so much fun in. I like learning in a way with color or even when I get a better understanding with something. For example, I got a great example with the diaries because I was in a Viziers point of view. I also got to learn how Ancient Egypt was like a really long time ago. Which was great, I really am looking forward to a similar assignment next year.

2. What were your greatest challenges? Explain. .
One of  the challenges I came face to face with, was the lit circles. I find myself as a boy with allot of responsibilities, and I am not talking about homework. But the matter is, I need to find some time to get work done. A way to solve that would be maybe to pay attention in class and to get work done in class. I get distracted easily, so I should be serious about my work and not play around. Another solution would be to enter the after school activity (Homework Help) I went their once, just because I had to stay after school until my dance concert starts, and it really helped get my work done.

3. Reflecting on your growth this year, what did you learn about yourself as a learner?
My year in grade six changed me allot. I started out as a boy with lots of friends and didn't really pay attention in class. But as I get older, my knowledge in class work grows. I start out with an assignment with the grade of a B, then I grew up to an A. I think paying attention to class work can get me to a higher grade. And that is one of a more goals I have planed for seventh grade.

4. To evaluate your work habits, choose 1 of the following from each category ( and provide explanations):

a) Behavior

Could be improved
Satisfactory
Perfect - the model student

Explanation:
My behavior could be improved, maybe I could pay attention and not play with my friends. I get distracted easily, so I need to be serious about the work.

b) Participation

None
Satisfactory
Actively participate in class

Explanation:
I think I participate in most of my work, especially with a project with my peers.

c) Organization

Needs serious help
Satisfactory
I'm super organized

d) Effort

Needs serious help
Satisfactory
I always go above and beyond what is required.

5. Based upon your reflections, write two personal learning goals for Grade 7 next year.

Goal 1 - In Grade 7, I plan to be more serious with my work and get my work done.

Goal 2 - In Grade 7, I plan to Get more organized, and fined time for me to get some work done. If not, I should join (HomerHelp).

6.Is there any more information about yourself that you would like the teachers to know?
I have allot of responsibilities at home, and I try my best to get my work done. I don't really like talking about it, because it reminds me of the times she was in need of serious help. She has Sickle cell anemia, and her blood vessels get blocked most of the times. Sometimes she has to stay at the hospital overnight. The problem is, I am the oldest, my parents count on me, and I have a 10 year old brother, a six year old sister and another two year old sister. They get really depressed when mom is not around, I try to cheer them up and it usually works. And that is what I am happy about.

7. Finally, cast your minds back to the first few months of middle school (when you arrived in Grade 6 ) what "Words of Wisdom" or "Advice" could you pass on to the Class of 2019?
TIMING!!! Timing is the key for every thing. You need your homework in time, and you need to get to class in time. So, all I need to tell you now is, follow your schedule for home and for school. Find time for reading and homework. Those are the only two things that you need to stay alert with.

Malaysia Week

In the time I have been in sixth grade, I thought, wow, school is boring. Except for the part where we got to go to MALAYSIA WEEK!!!! It was the greatest experience I had ever ha in my six years stay in Malaysia. It was fun, but now we have to come back into writing. I will talk about four of the SLR's I used the most in my time in Malaysia week. The for are, thinking creatively, communicate effectively, learn enthusiastically, and living ethically.

The first SLR is, thinking creatively. My site this year was Gunung Kutu, the translation in Bahasa is "Lice Mountain". It was survival rainforest. We had to think creatively in many ways. Making meals is one way we were thinking creatively. Making the fire was tough, an it wasn't fun, but we had to think creatively when we were cooking. We had to make sure we knew which group was cooking what an what we were actually going to cook. We also were thinking creatively when we had to make a gurney to carry a person that was injured. That person wasn't actually injure, it was when we were learning our first aid. We had to make the gurney out of two long pipes an a long strong string. It was hard, but we manage any ways from thinking creativelly.

In this paragraph, I will talk about two SLR's that are a bit similar to each other. An activity where we   learn enthusiastically, an communicate effectively is when we went whit water rafting. We had to learn from or mistakes, for example, when we first got stuck to a rock, it took us forever to get off the rock, and that was because our group was not communicating effectively. Soon when we got to a rapid, we paid atention to what we had to do. When we are communicating, we are communicating about which way to go, or when to paddle and when to hold on. And just to let you know, doing two SLR's at once, isn't as easy as it looks like.

Living ethically in a jungle is a big deal to allot of people, especially for the natives. We were told to keep the whole camp clean for one whole week. That's pretty hard for some boys. We had to make sure that all bio-degradable stuff were in the compost that we had to dig up. And we also had to make sure that all non bio-degradable stuff were in the plasic bags. Since the whole camp is usually messy, we had to have a rotation of groups doing clean up duty every once and a while.

This year was really fun, and this site is what made it fun. I hope that most of the people next year have as much fun as I did. You will experience allot of new stuff that you thought was the impossible, but in the words of some famous people say, the impossible is possible. And just a heads up, watch out for leaches..

...Letter...

Dear Mother, Father, and the Citizens of Wherton

I am sorry I had to disappear like that. I'm sure you're very worried. I am safe although I can't tell you where I am now. Here, in this place I'm in; I'm free. I can make my own choices. I left because I don't want those Tripods to control me and do what they want me to do. I miss you a lot and I didn't want to leave you there but I had to. I remember when I saw my best friend, Jack changed and I didn't want to end up like him. I'm safe with Henry and other boy we met along the way.

But there's one question that I want to ask. For all the citizens of Wherton, why don't you understand that capping is not as good as you thought? Only because if you're being capped than people will think that you've grown up? Sorry but I didn't mean to make fun for those people who said that but don't you understand that you've grown up each year? Also don't you think that now you're now not free? Remember, I make this decision for my safety and also for my rights. I think that everybody should've run away like me. Freedom is important to everybody's life. You will feel stress if your not free. But just because of those tripods that controlled you, you feel like you're plan meaning you don't have feelings. Mom, Dad, I'll remind you that I miss you more than you thought. I'm now here, in this secret place because of the Tripods. I also feel that you're not that kind to me because of them (the Tripods). So then I think it is a right decision to escape from Wherton village.

I can only write till here. I hope you'll enjoy your life for the rest of it. I wish you for all the best. Hope you'll stay healthy. I warned you to not send back any letters. This is for my safety and also yours. Sorry, but I have to stop here.

Don't ever reply this letter,

I love you,
   Sincerely,
                    Will

The White Mountains Beanpole

After another casual Lit. Circle discussion, and we have met an unusual character, Zhanpole. Will and Henry call him Beanpole, haha, Beanpole. Makes me laugh so hard. Beanpole suddenly came in the story in an unusual state. One area, where it's obvious a new character would come in, I suppose. Well, Beanpole did come in when Will and Henry needed help, so, there is a point.

How will Beanpole help Will and Henry on their journey to the White Mountains ?

Let's briefly talk about Beanpole and how he got to save Will and Henry. First of all, Beanpole didn't have a clue of who they were, and why they were escaping, or why they were making noises. Zhanpole was probably some random person who walked by and has been inside the locked room too. If you think about it, why would he be there? Was he also trying to escape and went pass the same people, Will and Henry did? At first I thought he was controlled by the Tripods. Pronouncing "matter" as "mat-air." I was in need of understanding who that boy was. The way he talked made me feel...like something bad is going to happen. Like I said before, if he was controlled by the Tripods! But until I read chapter 5, I understood that he was new to speaking English.

From the first few pages of Chapter Five, it explained that Beanpole has a tremendous brain. He instructed himself as he grew up, discovering an old book, in which gave instructions to speaking English. It's probably the reason why Beanpole spoke unevenly when we first met him, as if a person who was controlled by the Tripods were actually helping them. Let's point it out: He's a nice guy. He wants to escape from the Tripods the way Henry and Will are going to. Who knows if he's from the White Mountains, because he seems to be helping Will and Henry, which is clearly peculiar since many people would first save themselves, first. I question him; how did he know where they were going in the first place? Why help some strangers who are locked in a room, trying to escape? Wouldn't he think they were bad guys? Anyhow, Beanpole could speak the language of the country, is a wise person("And there are mountains in the south. Where one could hide, if no more." -Page 69). He has the thoughts which could change Will, or even Henry's ideas from going negative. I'm actually liking this character.

I explained most about Beanpole, how he will help is the uses of all those things I've explained. Because he's smart, he'd be able to construct more electronics or mechanics that could help them in their journey. Like when he tried to make a hot air balloon which failed at first try. Then approached to fixing it again, and it worked. So Beanpole would have the smarts; Henry would be the strength; and I suppose Will was meant for leader, but so far, Beanpole is leader somehow.

Apparently I asked so many questions about this book, in this blog post. Well, that's me. I give in my own opinions, but I am clearly not John Christopher. So don't take this too seriously. Sometimes thinking creatively requires the use of my own persuasion. I wouldn't say I put much judgments(like criticizing the work) on this book, just questions. And only questions.

The similarities between Will & I

The White Mountains is about a boy who tries to escape from the being overlooked by Tripods. It's not a good thing. They change your minds, shave your heads, and start controlling your feelings! If you didn't have any feelings, you won't be able to really understand why you're living. Just accept whatever goes by, no reactions. Can't feel love either...and for Will, he's gonna break free from Capping.

Similarities between Will and I? Well, it's harder than you think this question is. He is in a Utopian world and i am thankful to be in this free world. That is one of the differences. Another difference is that he has no siblings, and I got three. But if you start connecting these two bits information along with the book...that is how I got these thoughts.

Will has feelings, and he probably wants to keep his feelings, he might want to send it off to someone else(if you know what I mean) and wants to avoid getting controlled. I want to keep my emotions and be able to continue living with them. Just like Will. It's quite sad that 'teenagers' loose their own thoughts and stop education, because they won't be able to live their own lives, which is happening to Will. They won't be able to accomplish things they wanted to accomplish. And everyone gets a 'special someone' when they get older, sadly, there are chances that these people won't get to get that opportunity. I find Will somehow like me, cares about his family, doesn't want people to control his feelings, wants to help out some other people from being Capped. He's suspicious. Some people say feelings, it's not a big deal. You wouldn't feel how hard it is to get REJECTED from your favorite game. Heh, I don't know but, it's interesting to look at it this way.

Along with kids getting Capped and controlled, it's like my parents, controlling me everyday at home. "Saleh, can you go and take care of your sisters honey" Lots of consequences after each request, and I have the urge to go away. No, I don't have the freedom choice like Will, but yes, I have the urge to escape this! I can not take this anymore! But, I love my family, they love me to, it would be rude to reject them and say no. So there's no point of me escaping, I'd just say, I understand how Will feels.

Will accepting Henry as a partner for the journey. Will must have hated it, yet he accepted him for the sake of Henry's future. I would also accept his request, Henry is stronger than Will. BUT HE CAN PROTECT US. Just like my dad, I wouldn't want him to come with me to the MS party, but he is big and strong, which means he can protect me. It's similar cause, who knows what the person may be when they continue a certain event! Don't judge people by their cover. They sometimes hide something they'd never show in public.

Memories is a big part in this book, when Will tried to dismiss the thought of Jack that had just turned into the new Jack by being capped. I'm sure Will misses the OLD Jack. Jack is acting robotic, doesn't really hide things as much as he is does now. They probably had fun back then...It's a family thing! This happened many times to me, yet, it comes back. Those old thoughts where you just can't stop thinking about it, because they were so precious to you. When someone who was your friend changed, to becoming someone you don't even know... "It's funny how strangers become friends, but sad how friends become strangers." - Anon. It affects most when it comes to families. Families are blood related, so it's more precious than...friends? I'd say it is, and I miss how our family used to talk to each other more often. Thanks to laptops and desktops, we barely talk face-to-face. See! Technology took over us!  Yeah, technology (I'm not saying technology is a bad thing, just showing how it manipulates some people's lives). Those are some of my similarities from Will & I.

Ramses II iMovie Reflection

1.The benefits of working with a classmate / or alone.
My opinion to this question is, to work with a partner. I would love to work with a partner with all of my assignments because I find it easier and it's not as hard as to having to be stressed allot doing that assignment. Later on my life I will have to learn how to work individually. You wont expect to work with a partner in college would you? On the other hand, if we have a big unit that is huge to our grades, I would like to share the work. For example,  when Gabriel and I where making the movie and planning it, we decided that he should worry about the movie and the pictures and the layout of the film. While he was doing that my job was to write the script. When the time came for filming we had everything ready to go.

2. Challenges / obstacles which you overcame (tried to overcome).
Although we Gabriel and I thought we had every thing ready and set to the film, we knew that we would get rejected by the plan like getting rejected to the MS Party. Our movie was based on a historian that is getting interview by a famous t.v host. It wasn't a voice over like every body else. We had to film our selves in one shot. It took us exactly half an hour to find a spot to film. Finally we found the most quite, empty place we could ask for, which was the boy P.E locker room. the other disaster was that we didn't even get don with the very first paragraph in our script. The first day was a disaster. The next day we decided to ditch the script and the plan and make a voice over which was our second choice. It took us time, but we managed to finish it in the last minuet. That is why the next time i have to do something like that, I will just stick to what the teacher's best choice of filming is. So the big thing that caused this disaster was the plan and the script.

2. Challenges / obstacles which you overcame (tried to overcome).
I have learned allot of things about myself during the assignment. One of them is that I will always have fun working out of class, but some times things can get a little bit weird or shall I say foolish. Another big one is that the next time I have to choose a partner, I wouldn't choose one of my very close friends. I would choose someone that can be trusted and someone that will care very much about his work. This time  it was my fault, because I was the one that asked Gabriel who is my best brother, to be my partner, and  all we ended up doing was talk about funny things and embarrassing things not about our work. Next time I wont make the mistakes I made this time.
